But despite this, all these influences are filtered through Interpol's New York sensibility, and the album is a very consistent set of songs with plenty of highlights.

While a slight twist on the tried and true Interpol formula, the new songs were still familiar enough to keep the specter of all these Joy Division comparison hanging around.
While the album features enough highlights to elevate the songs beyond mere homage, based on their current live set, the majority of the band is clearly tired of having played the same songs repeatedly for a couple of years, and it shows.
One exception is "NYC", the elegiac paean to Interpol's hometown, which on this night achieved a moment of grandeur, partially due to a wise decision to augment the four-piece arrangement with the addition of a keyboard player for this tour.
