Interposition - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Interposition, in the context of the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions, refers to an asserted right of U.S. states to protect their individual interests from federal violation or any abridgement of states' rights deemed by those states to be dangerous or unconstitutional.
Interposition is now most often claimed to be a discredited doctrine with no legal basis, in light of the United States Constitution's Supremacy Clause
This is said by advocates like Thomas Woods to beg the question of constitutionality: it is because the Constitution is the supreme law of the land that states are said to be within their rights to nullify or interpose federal laws that are deemed unconstitutional.

Idaho Observer: Assume the Interposition Now!
The Fourth Edition of Black's Law Dictionary defines interposition as “the doctrine that a state, in the exercise of its sovereignty, may reject a mandate of the federal government deemed to be unconstitutional or to exceed the powers delegated to the federal government.
One of the latest interpositions are the many state and local resolutions and ordinances which seek to prohibit the implementation of the USA PATRIOT Act and reaffirm the Bill of Rights.
Interposition “may be peaceable, as by resolution, remonstrance or legislation, or may proceed ultimately to nullification, with forcible resistance”.

Market Interposition Book - Part II Page 29
Interposition is named for its central strategic concept--that the drug/crime epidemic can only be controlled by interrupting the fl market sale of illegal drugs and terminating the mutual stimulation between the demand and supply sides of the drug market.
For any individual drug user, interposition is in effect at the instant when he or she ceases doing business with the retail merchants of the criminal syndicates to become a client of the ADMI.
Interposition is fully in effect when all drug users will have made that choice, and the fl market suppliers are out of business.

For the fascial interposition technique, a suture was used to contain the testicular end of the vas inside the fascial sheath; the prostatic end remained outside (Figure 1).
Assuming that the cumulative chance of success through 34 weeks of follow-up is 85% when fascial interposition is not used, and 90% when fascial interposition is used, enrolling at least 1156 participants would assure 90% power to detect a difference between the groups, with a one-sided test and an alpha of 0.05.
The two diagnoses responsible for the slight difference in adverse events between the fascial interposition and the non-fascial interposition groups were sperm granuloma in 41 (9.8%) versus 29 (6.9%) of the cases and epididymitis or orchitis in 12 (2.9%) versus six (1.4%) of the cases, respectively.

Skinner93] established the current terminology for the field, discarding ``stacking'' in favor of ``interposition'' and ``composition.'' The term ``stacking'' was considered at once to have too many implications, to be too vague, and to imply only a linear LIFO structure with no fan-in or fan-out.

The purpose of this restructuring that Skinner and Wong had proposed was so that the three pvnodes could be used as one composed entity (shown here as a dashed enclosing box) that could be locked using a single lock variable in the new vnode structure.

This paper presents a toolkit that substantially increases the ease of interposing user code between clients and instances of the system interface by allowing such code to be written in terms of the high-level objects provided by this interface, rather than in terms of the intercepted system calls themselves.
This toolkit helps enable new interposition agents to be written, many of which would not otherwise have been attempted.
Examples of other agents that could be built include: protected environments for running untrusted binaries, logical devices implemented entirely in user space, transparent data compression and/or encryption agents, transactional software environments, and emulators for other operating system environments.

 Bypass Manual
An interposition agent is a small piece of software which transforms a program's operation by placing itself between the program and the operating system.
Writing interposition agents from scratch is tricky -- each operating system implements its systems calls in a slightly different manner, so writing portable code to trap them is quite difficult.
The interposition agent attaches to a program, traps its system calls, and sends them back to another machine, where the shadow process executes them and returns the results.

Interposition, in the context of the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions refers to the right of US states to protect the liberties of its own citizens.
It is often used in conjunction with nullification, which gives states the right to nullify, or invalidate, any federal law which that state had deemed unconstitutional.
Their importance lies in that they were later considered to be the first statements of states' rights theory and led to the concepts of nullification and interposition.
