The worst section is from Junction Interstate 155 to west of San Jose, in Logan County.
There are fewer trucks on U.S. 136 since the Interstates have been completed; but, since it is the only Illinois River crossing between Pekin and Beardstown, it still has a fair amount of truck traffic.
However, the highway is ever built, it will go through northern Missouri and Iowa instead of western Illinois.A portion is already completed in Iowa along U. 218 and incorporating existing Interstate 380 between Iowa City and Waterloo.
