Interstate 26 (abbreviated I-26) is an east-west main route of the Interstate Highway System in the Southeastern United States.
Prior to August 5, 2003, I-26's western terminus was at Interstate 40 and Interstate 240 southwest of Asheville, North Carolina.
Interstate 526 is a partial beltway of Charleston, South Carolina, running from U.S. Route 17 west of the city north to I-26 and back east and south to US 17 east of Charleston.

Interstate 26 (abbreviated I-26) is an interstate highway in the southeastern United States.
The section from Asheville to Colonial Heights was opened in September 2003, and included half of Interstate 181 from Colonial Heights to Johnson City, Tennessee, and the western half of Interstate 240 in Asheville.
Some have called for an extension of I-26 northward across the Virginia state line to meet up with a potential I-66 extension in Kentucky, however that is not on the immediate plans.

Interstate 181 is part of the Appalachian Corridor B, a route from the 1960s slated to run along US 23 from Columbus, Ohio to Asheville, North Carolina.
On Aug. 5, 2003, Interstate 26 was extended north from Asheville, N. to I-81, incorporating all of I-181 south of I-81.
Interstate 281 is an old number for the southern half of today's I-481, the portion leading northeasterly from I-81 to I-90.

Interstate 26 has no business loops or spurs, but two of its "children" routes, Interstates 126 and 526, have/had business spurs associated with them.
Interstate 126 becomes Business Spur I-126 (with a green shield) after it crosses the Huger Street viaduct (U.S. 21-176-321) in downtown Columbia along Elmwood Avenue (U.S. Although there are shields for Business Spur I-126, it may not have been the intended designation for Elmwood Avenue.
He says it does not appear on any of their planning maps from the late 1950s (when the Interstate 26 system was commissioned) onward.
