 California @ WestCoastRoads - California 274
Former California 274 was Balboa Avenue, entirely within the City of San Diego, between Interstate 5 and Interstate 15 through Pacific Beach, Clairemont Mesa, and Kearny Mesa.
Some of this work was required as a result of a failed storm drain that created a sinkhole in the vicinity of the Interstate 15/California 274 interchange, and the other work was performed in preparation for the relinquishment of this route to the city of San Diego.
Although a portion of this interchange was built with clover ramps, a flyover ramp (visible in the background) connects northbound Interstate 15 with westbound California 274.

Brady, 430 U.S. 274 (1977), rejected the line of cases holding that the direct taxation of interstate commerce was impermissible and adopted instead a "consistent and rational method of inquiry [that focused on] the practical effect of [the] challenged tax." Mobil Oil Corp. v.
Undue burdens on interstate commerce may be avoided not only by a case-by-case evaluation of the actual burdens imposed by particular regulations or taxes, but also, in some situations, by the demarcation of a discrete realm of commercial activity that is free from interstate taxation.
Even were I to agree that the free trade rationale embodied in Bellas Hess' rule against taxes of purely interstate sales was required by our cases prior to 1967, therefore, I see no basis in the majority's opening premise that this substantive underpinning of Bellas Hess has not since been disavowed by our cases.

Forecasts included in the report show that tolls across the 274-mile network would be doubled under Option C and tripled under option D using the Toll Authority's current funding structure.
According to the report, the Toll Authority lacks the resources to administer all but the most minimal improvements to its ailing infrastructure, effectively consigning its 274-mile road network to a state of intractable disrepair.
The resulting cash shortage - a whopping $500 million per year - could approach the $1 billion per year mark if the Toll Authority persists with a financially risky and politically volatile plan to extend Route 53 through Lake County and Interstate 355 through Will County, along with constructing a bypass of O'Hare Airport.
