Improvements to enhance capacity on Interstate 275 from Ashley Street to the Tampa Airport exit (FL 60, Exit 39) are planned to begin sometime soon; among these enhancements are a wide median corridor to accommodate a commuter rail line in the future, which for Tampa as well as the Tampa Bay area is desperately needed.
Interstate 275 is not the only interstate getting the new exit numbering makeover; all of the other interstates in the Tampa Bay area as well as the rest of Florida have received the new exit numbering makeover as well.

I-296 is a little-known, unsigned Interstate highway connecting I-96 with I-196 in downtown Grand Rapids.
I-375 is the shortest Interstate highway in the state, beating I-194 and I-296 by approximately 2-1/4 miles.
As with much of I-275 in the western Metro Detroit suburbs, portions of I-696 were constructed in the 1970s using the "Continuous Reinforced Concrete" method, which eschewed the common practice of adding expansion joints to the concrete surface in exchange for additional reinforcement in the concrete.

TAMPA - Engineers inspected the Columbus Drive overpass on Interstate 275 northbound today at noon and decided it was not damaged enough to stop highway traffic.
A pillar of the overpass, which is in the area of Hillsborough County near the 275-Interstate 4 interchange, was damaged when hit by a vehicle.
The Tampa Police Department said interstate traffic might have to be diverted, but at noon that was not the case.
