Missouri 370 is the 12-mile freeway connecting Interstate 270 with Interstate 70 in the vicinity of St. Charles, northwest of St. Louis.
It was subsequently redesignated as Missouri 370 in early 1993.
Missouri 370 is a viable alternative to Interstate 70 to reach Wentzville and points west via a second Missouri River bridge between Bridgeton and St. Charles.

I-370 is called the Sam Eig Highway, after a Russian immigrant who made his millions in suburban DC real estate, then donated land and money for synagogues, Methodist and Catholic churches, a Red Cross building and Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring.
The mid-1990s vintage MO 370 freeway extends from I-270 across the Missouri River to I-70 at St. Peters.
One reason for MO 370 is to relieve traffic crossing the Missouri River on I-70 a few miles to the south: probably from "excruciating" to "merely unbearable".

In 1989, I-270 was widened to twelve lanes (2-4-4-2 configuration) from the wye split to I-370 (9 miles), and eight lanes from there to MD-118, a total of 13 miles.
I-370 is 3 miles long, and has four lanes.
Also, I-370 was developed with the idea that the Inter-County Connector would eventually branch from I-370, about 3/4 mile north of the Metro station, and head east about 18 miles to the B-W Parkway at Laurel.

Also like 221, the highway used to continue past the interstate but that part was decommissioned.

The governors of Virginia and Maryland announced plans yesterday to study adding express toll lanes to 28 miles of the region's major commuter routes, including large portions of the Capital Beltway, as both states push to build the new-style highways.
Maryland will lead a study on adding toll lanes to 14 miles of the Beltway from Georgetown Pike across the American Legion Bridge and onto Interstate 270 to its juncture with Interstate 370.
Within the last 17 months, the state has announced plans to pursue HOT lanes on its portion of the Beltway and on a 56-mile stretch of Interstate 95 and Interstate 395 between Spotsylvania County and the 14th Street bridge.

GRAFTON -- A nasty battle between environmentalists and the city of St. Peters, Mo., got even nastier this week, and village officials in Grafton are trying to stay out of the middle of it.
The proposal generated opposition from environmentalists and a number of concerned residents, including state Sen. William Haine, D-Alton, who spoke at a public hearing held by the corps in St. Peters in October.
Last week, the St. Peters Board of Aldermen approved the sale of the Lakeside 370 property, a 1,600-acre tract, to Kaplan Development Co., which offered nearly $50 million to the city to buy the entire project.

Near Wheeling, West Virginia a freeway sign said "Accident on Interstate 370" which would take off in a few miles.
The West Virginia Highway Patrol then had the Interstate 70 ramp closed forcing us all onto Interstate 370.

I'm also just old enough to remember back when I-270 was signed as I-70S -- I-70 split at Frederick with I-70N going to Baltimore and I-70S heading to Washington.
Then AASHTO decreed that there would no longer be split interstates, and I-70S became I-270.
It was originally supposed to go all the way downtown, but it now ends at I-495, the Capital Beltway.

Gaithersburg Ambulance 289 arrived on scene at the corrected location of eastbound Interstate 370 at Route 355 to find a single car rolled over with the driver's left leg pinned under the "A" post and door of his car.
Saturday was a day of traumas ranging from an overturned vehicle with a priority 2 trauma on Northbound 270 between Shady Grove Road and Interstate 370 to a collision at Muddy Branch Road and W. Deer Park Road where a single car wrapped around a pole.
On a lighter note, Station 3 units ran another collision on Interstate 270 in which bootlegged pornography was thrown from one of the vehicles and littered the highway, giving a new meaning to a rear-end collision.

There were 18 reported accidents — predominantly rear-end collisions — in the merge area of the ramp from I-370 to Shady Grove Road heading north, according to accident data from January 1999 to December 2001.
In studying traffic at the ramp and collecting traffic volume and speed data, officials concluded that two problems would have to be fixed: the length of the merge area and the high speed of vehicles exiting from I-370.
