Immediately after Interstate 480 turns south to join U.S. 75, this sign assembly advises motorists that the final exit (Exit 1A, Martha Street) is 1.25 miles ahead, followed by the southern terminus of Interstate 480 at Interstate 80 (Exits 452A-B).

In 1999, a bill in the House of Representatives would have extended I-480 south along US 75 in southern Omaha and Bellevue, then east through Plattsmouth to connect with Interstate 29 near Glenwood, Iowa, increasing the length of the I-480 to 19 miles.

As it is, all the 3-digit interstates in Omaha and Kansas City that could have conceivably received an x29 designation are instead branches of other interstates in the area (I-80 and I-35).
Northbound 75 and southbound 480 don't actually meet 80 at the same spot; one direction must curve to meet the other.
