The 0 mile marker is the interstate's junction with I-40, which, regardless of if this portion is signed east-west, as it is, or north-south, as the newer section is, should be past the Mile 14 marker.
I-540 is shown going in one direction, but not in the other, strongly suggesting this exit marks the terminus point.
Most of the interesting-looking bridges actually ARE 540, so they have to be seen from other roads, mainly US-71, which runs a parallel course just east of 540.

Springdale resident Daniel Maner examined drawings of $350 million worth of widened interstate stretches, looping exit ramps and a maze of new flyover roads that a state-hired consultant said must be built by 2024 to keep Interstate 540 from becoming gridlocked.
A consulting group hired by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department displayed the results of its Interstate 540 study this week and estimated the cost of improvements at $350 million.
Interstate 540 and all the exits between Fayetteville and Bentonville must be overhauled by 2024 just to keep the traffic moving at an acceptable pace, according to the draft of a two-year study of the interstate.

Only Interstate 540 between north of Alma and Fayetteville along with the U.S. 71 bypass to Bella Vista is part of Corridor 1 and the proposed routing of Interstate 49.

I-540 will cut 20 minutes from the the current one-hour travel time between I-40 and Fayetteville, Secretary Slater said, cutting fuel costs for drivers and commercial shippers.
