One of my friends, a self proclaimed I-59 lover, has been promising to write a rant for months now.
I-59 served to connect Birmingham to the foundries (and waterways) of Chattanooga, and the coal of West Virginia and Kentucky.
It also gave it a connection to New Orleans, which is a much more important port than Mobile, which is the other nearby interstate-accessible port.

Castleberry said they had not written any speeding tickets on the interstate because they were not licensed to operate a radar gun on that particular road.
