Interstate 12 between Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I-59 near the Louisiana/Mississippi state line is actually a shorter route than I-10 between the two adjoining points, since I-10 dips to the south to go through New Orleans.
I-10 is one of the very few interstates that have at-grade intersections (roads that intersect it at a 90 degree angle, as opposed to an overpass with on and off ramps).

Interstate 30 goes from Fort Worth up to Texarkana and on into Arkansas.  One of the earliest sections completed on this Interstate was a part between Dallas and Greenville.  Other sections up to Texarkana were completed in the 1970s.
Interstate 35 is the longest north-south interstate route in Texas.  It runs from the Oklahoma border at the Red River down to Laredo.  Some of the larger towns on IH 35 are Waco, Austin and San Antonio.  IH 35 is split into 35-E and 35W for Fort Worth and Dallas.

Interstate 410 in Baton Rouge, from North Blvd. to Scenic Highway, another short section - a 1 1/2 mile stretch - this interstate would later be changed to 110 rather than 410 when plans for a loop freeway were discontinued.
Interstate 10 was under construction between Jennings and Crowley, as was a part north of the Eastern Expressway in New Orleans up to the future IH 10/12/59 interchange.
Interstate 59 is open from the town of Pearl River up to Picayune, MS so this would indicate the bridges over the Pearl River were complete.

The Interstate highway shield has undergone a few revisions since its first appearance in 1958, with subsequent modifications made in 1961, 1972, 1979, 1988, and 2000 to the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
We challenge anyone to find an Interstate shield with the word "Oregon" or "Utah" in it: Dan Stober found only one state-name standalone shield in the Beehive State, and we were able to locate just one for Interstate 70 in Fishlake National Forest on 10/18/04.
