Interstate 295 (abbreviated I-295) when fully completed will be a 35 mile (56.5 km) loop around the west side of Fayetteville built to help relieve congestion through that city.
The route will be signed as a full interstate once parts of the highway (the bridge crossing the Cape Fear River and the interchange with I-95) are brought up to interstate standards.
Future I-295 signs were put up along the route when the section between I-95 and River Road opened in July 2005.
