The SF Site Featured Review: The 3rd Alternative #40 / Interzone #196
Interzone has published short stories by many of the big names of the field, from Brian Aldiss and J.G. Ballard to Ian Watson and Gene Wolfe, but its particular strength has been in the nurturing of newer writers.
Mike Driscoll's column in Interzone, about fantasy's relationship to "literary" fiction and the diversity of approaches offered by U.K. fantasists, is a particular highlight, a thoughtful and provocative column rather than a puff-piece.
The The 3rd Alternative and Interzone are the two magazines most likely to be able to have a deep and lasting effect on what it is we call SF, because they are the two magazines that showcase the broadest array of fiction, and they do it with style.

 Interzone 194 Sept/Oct 2004
Interzone had been publishing monthly since 1990, Spectrum SF was providing some very solid SF content, and new magazine 3SF from Big Engine had just been launched.
Considering that Interzone #1 and #192 were notably similar in presentation (I haven't got a hold of #193 yet), you have to see the presentation as being a revolution, not an evolution.
Keeping a unique identity for Interzone and The 3rd Alternative will be a challenge, as the two magazines are quite similar in appearance, as I for one would hate to see either The 3rd Alternative (incorporating Interzone) or Interzone (incorporating The 3rd Alternative) - as Interzone (incorporating Million) happened some years ago.

One of the superior new metal bands to emerge from Canada is Toronto's Interzone.
Since their inception Interzone has recorded only two demos, none of which were officially released.
In the fall of '98 Interzone entered into Toronto's "Halla Music" to record their first full length CD "Cydonia." This CD is nostalgic but at the same time sounds more alive and vital then many a new band.

 Interzone
Interzone started quarterly, went bi-monthly in 1988 and monthly from May 1990, which it remained until 2001, though its schedule slipped to ten issues in 2002, then became more erratic in 2003.
Interzone #47, May 1991, was essentially the May-June issue of Aboriginal, #27, in an Interzone cover.
Brazier was commissioned to modernise the appearance of Interzone, though the changes were mainly internal at first and did not noticeably affect the cover until a new title design was adopted with #100.

What the press says about Interzone ...
At first Ton Luiting (69), a true Hilversum residential, was amused that a conversation on the music of Interzone could lead to a jazz suite inspired by his Terra Incognita.
Due to his creative pencil and complex arrangements, the band Interzone diffused an impressive and intense big band atmosphere at the Kulturschiene (located in Central Station of Münster), without having a line-up that numerically only could arrive at the scene by big touring bus.
Interzone is a project that works in various line-ups, both numerically and personally.

In fact, The Interzone Mantras is arguably their most consistent album.
That being said, listeners who have never been seduced by the charms of the Tea Party will likely not change their opinion with the latest release, and casual fans are still best served by Tangents.
The Tea Party may have found a comfortable niche entering their second decade together, but with The Interzone Mantras, they are certainly not resting on their laurels.

While it's gratifying that there are so many science-fiction and fantasy authors who are eager to be published in our pages it's a lot of work for us to deal with such a quantity of material.
We try to turn manuscripts round as quickly as possible, but there is a huge quantity of material to read, and none of us is able to do the reading on a full-time basis.

 Review - Interzone
Listening to Interzone on a warm (almost) spring Saturday afternoon, on my monster Bose speakers with the volume wound way up, I'm thinking about the rich and varied sounds they (the musicians not the Bose speakers) create on this album.
Interzone is a five-piece outfit, keyboards, bass, drums, guitar and saxophone.
The opening track, "Introzone" is a straight up funk/jazz ensemble piece that rocks along and pretty well sets the stage for the feel of the entire album.

Kevin Wimberley who did the last Sacrifice tour with Death is in Interzone, and as I mentioned before...haven't heard from Gus for a while.
I've heard your new "Interzone" CD many times and to me it's (thankfully) not a hell of a lot removed from Sacrifice...the tempo on a few songs might be a little more relaxed, but the guitar tones and your vocals can still rip off heads with ease....
To me, Interzone is a completely different entity and I think more people will see it that way after hearing us more.

Interzone - William S. Burroughs - Penguin Group (USA)
In 1954 William Burroughs settled in Tangiers, finding a sanctuary of sorts in its shadowy streets, blind alleys, and lowlife decadence.
James Grauerholz's incisive introduction sets the scene for this series of pieces, guiding the reader through Burroughs's literary evolution from the precise, laconic, and deadpan writer of Junky and Queer to the radical, uncompromising seer of Naked Lunch.
Interzone is an indispensable addition to the canon of his works.
