Pandemonium was introduced as a learning model that adaptively improved itself to handle pattern classification problems that could not be adequately specified in advance.

Pandemonium is the complete system of Lemurian demonism and time sorcery.
In the ancient egyptian mysteries it was attributed to the god of catastrophe and drowning - Osiris - who was later symbolized by The Hanged Man of the Tarot (taken by decadologists as an image of the Atlantean Cross).
This doctrine assigns the Amphidemons and Cyclic Chronodemons of Lemurian Pandemonium to one of nine cluster types (C/tp-#), determined by the pattern of their rites.

Pandemonium's extraordinarily silly (and not very funny) storyline exists only to string together the graphically diverse levels - and make no mistake, the graphics are the main attraction here.
Pandemonium has that unfortunate platform-game trait of forcing players to screw up certain puzzles before they learn to solve them.

Posted Aug 22, 2003 12:55 pm PT Originally released on the PlayStation back in 1996, Pandemonium was one of the first "2D/3D" platform games.
While it used polygonal graphics to display its colorful characters and worlds, the game still had the same style of control that you'd expect from a 2D side-scroller.
Pandemonium lets you play as two characters with slightly different abilities.

Although Pandemonium is set in a 3D world, you only allowed to follow the walkways provided, rather than wander off in any chosen direction, but it does look a damn site more attractive than the many 2D scrolling platforms available on the market.

Pandemonium - Model of FEATURE DETECTION developed by Selfridge (1959): originally to recognise Morse code patterns, but later developed by Lindsay and Norman (1972) into a BOTTOM-UP theory of letter recognition.
Selfridge made use of both meanings of the word in his model, in which NEURONS or neural clusters "shriek" to indicate the presence of particular features of the perceived stimulus.
The pandemonium of shrieks will then be interpreted by a "decision demon", whose job is to "perceive" (that is, decide on the basis of the evidence) which letter was actually present in the original stimulus.

 IGN: Pandemonium Review
It is arguable whether Pandemonium is a true 3D game because the backgrounds and character models are three-dimensional, but the character's movements are restricted to a 2D path.
In other words, players can only move their character left or right (not into the foreground or background), but the camera pans around the twists and turns of the levels to give the game the appearance of 3D.
Pandemonium has its shining moments when it comes to fun, reflex driven jumping and fun N-Gage Arena play, but is harbored by its limited field of vision.

Pandemonium was coined by John Milton in Paradise Lost (1667), from Greek elements pan- 'all' and daímon 'demon'.
These senses, usually with an initial capital, are found outside of Milton: "...as exquisite and divine a retreat as Pandemonium appeared to the demons of hell after their sufferings in the lake of fire"--Mary Shelly, Frankenstein, for example.
