Film Adaptations of Jane Austen's Novels
When towards the end of her essay Roberts turns to discuss the "sensationalism" of the film's approach and remarks that it camps up and sexualizes the novel grotesquely (26), she concludes (as if she is puzzled) that the film is "an interesting failure" because it doesn't ethically examine but just exploits the viewer's sexual longing.
Film scholars continually take into account the centrality of hiring alluring archetypal actors and actresses who enact mythic roles in the dream world of the screen (5).
The actors in the earlier movie are filmed as if the landscape were a stage in a play, and the camera acts simply as a still eye which places the viewer in the position of someone in a theatre audience.

Black Sun was a short film released in 1996.
In the early 20th century, the phrase "Rising Sun" may have been used as a euphemism for a brothel or house of prostitution, and it is not known whether or not the house described in the lyrics is an actual or fictitious place.
The second was a late 19th century "Rising Sun Hall" in the riverfront of the uptown Carrollton neighborhood, which seems to have been a building owned and used for meetings of a Social Aid and Pleasure Club, commonly rented out for dances and functions.

They treated many of their prisoners and opponents in a brutal manner, and while the film gave us a hint of that, it seemed to portray them in an oddly positive light much of the time.
Since it used Jim’s point of view, the film was able to get away with a less-than-realistic tone, but it managed to avoid the pitfalls of a sappy attitude that might have occurred.
These didn’t harm the film for me, but they pushed credulity to a large degree; even if we consider the stretches allowable due to Jim’s point of view, some of these elements seemed like a little too much.
