Intramolecular - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Intramolecular describes a process or characteristic limited within the structure of a single molecule; a property or phenomenon limited to the extent of a single molecule.
intramolecular hydride transfer (transfer of a hydride ion from one part to another within the same molecule)

 Discovering Intramolecular Interactions
The bond between atoms in a molecule is a type of intramolecular interaction; however, we are not going examine this; we are going to look at the interaction between non-bonded constituents, such as the iodine affecting the location of the hydrogens in iodomethane.
Intramolecular interactions are different from the intermolecular forces (IMFs) that you studied previously to help explain differences in properties of liquids (such as boiling points).
Intramolecular hydrogen bonds play an important role in maintaining the structure of biological materials, such as secondary (coiled) and tertiary (folded) structures of proteins and the double helix of DNA.

A parallel intramolecular fluorescence quenching process is investigated by the study of two reference compounds, 9-hydroxymethylanthracene and 9-ethoxymethylanthracene.
A model for this phenomenon is established presenting relative rates of all important deactivation processes, inclusive of backtwisting from the TICT triplet as an efficient pathway for the deactivation of the TICT state as well as for the population of the phosphorescing Tl(N) state of the benzonitriles.
The absence of a clear CT band in spite of complete intramolecular hydrogen bond complexation in alkanes is interpreted as evidence that formation of a specific solute-solvent complex alone is not sufficient to create the large anomalous CT band observed for DMABN in polar and mixed polar/nonpolar solvents.

 Intramolecular Dehydration
How concentrated the acid has to be and how hot the mixture has to be heated depends on the particular alcohol that is being dehydrated.
That name is used to distinguish this reaction from an intermolecular dehydration reaction in which the H- and the -OH come from two different molecules.
As I pointed out earlier, this kind of dehydration reaction in which you form an alkene from an alcohol is called intramolecular dehydration because all of the atoms for the water molecule came from the same alcohol molecule.

Solvation Difference Maps as Probes of Intramolecular Hydrogen Bonding: An Application of Hyperactive Molecules
This is supported by a theoretical study[2] of intramolecular hydrogen bonding in systems such as glucose and 1,2-ethanediol, from which Cramer and Truhlar concluded that intramolecularly hydrogen bonded conformers remain as the global minima upon aqueous solvation, albeit by less energy than prior to solvation.
The low energy regions corresponding to greatest solvation energy are those where no intramolecular hydrogen bond is present, whilst the ridges seen in the isometric projection are precisely those associated with such a hydrogen bond.
Secondly, molecular coordinates can be associated with chemical MIME types[5]such that when a particular region of the solvation map is activated, the coordinates are transferred to the user's computer and visualised using a suitable visualisation program.

Intramolecular Charge Transfer   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
During intramolecular electron transfer, an electron is transferred from a donor to an acceptor site.
Because the movement of charge generates an electromagnetic field, the most direct measurement of charge transfer is measurement of the field generated.
We have extensively studied the field emitted by intramolecular charge transfer in Betaine-30 (also known as Reichart's dye), and compared it to that of DMANS and biased GaAs.

Carbon Nanotube Inter- and Intramolecular Logic Gates
The ability to adjust the relative position of the two thresholds by choosing the appropriate doping level allows a much sharper transition from the up to the down logic state.
To use a logical gate as part of a more complicated computing system, a gain (output/input ratio) of one is required.
The intramolecular inverter presented here has a gain higher than one (1.6) and can thus be used to drive another gate or a more complicated logic circuit such as a ring oscillator.
