 | | The Department of Geology seeks to teach and model for a student how data on earth processes and structures are understood and evaluated within interpretive frameworks, especially in relation to understanding earth history. |
 | | Students earn the master of science degree in geology by specializing in one of three areas: (1) soft-rock geology, (2) hard-rock geology, or (3) solid-earth geophysics. |
 | | The ore deposits studied will include those associated with layered igneous intrusions, massive sulfides associated with volcanic rocks, porphyry copper (±gold±molybdenum) deposits associated with granitic intrusions, massive sulphide deposits within sedimentary rock units, banded iron formations, massive iron oxide-breccia copper (plus other metals) deposits, and vein and hydrothermal deposits of different metals and types. |
