Akita Inu - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Akita or Akita Inu is a breed of large Japanese dog, named for Akita Prefecture, where it is thought to have originated.
"Inu" means "dog" in Japanese, although in practice this animal is nearly always referred as "Akita-ken," another reading of the same kanji.
In the Edo Period, Dewa Province (present-day Akita prefecture) was ruled by the Satake clan.

 Encyclopedia: Shiba Inu
The Shiba Inu (柴犬) is the smallest of the six original and distinct Japanese breeds of dog.
The Shiba Inu nearly became extinct in the latter phase of World War II, with all subsequent dogs bred from only three surviving bloodlines known as the San'in, Mino and Shinshu.
The name shiba inu is most commonly believed to be referring to its size, with shiba meaning "small" and inu simply meaning "dog".

Dog and Kennel Magazine Shiba Inu Breed Profile
The shiba inu was developed in the mountains near the Sea of Japan, where the breed was used to flush birds and small game and, on occasion, to hound wild boar.
The shiba inu was in peril of being hybridized beyond recognition when Hirokiosch-Saito formed a preservation society in 1930 to keep the breed from becoming extinct.
In addition to seeking out uncompromised specimens of shiba inus from the more remote areas of Japan, the preservation society drafted a breed standard for the shiba as well as for its medium-size relative the Hokaido inu and its larger cousin the Akita inu.

Tosa Inu: What's Good About 'Em? What's Bad About 'Em?
The Tosa Inu is often referred to as the "Sumo wrestler of the dog world" because of his great size and strength.
In addition, Tosa Inus may try to protect their own children from other children, which could lead to tragedy if kids are simply roughhousing and your Tosa decides to stop it.
Tosa Inus are already banned in some countries and may be targeted for banning in certain areas in the United States.

Tosa inu history and breed information
Tosa Inu 土佐犬 literally means "Tosa dog", the two first ideograms (Kanji) representing the word 'Tosa' and the last one that one of 'dog'.
Without doubt, the Tosa Inu is one of the most fascinating but at the same time least well understood dog breeds, much like the culture they originate from.
The native country of the Tosa Inu breed is Shikoku, the smallest of the four Japanese islands.

Although INU combats undisciplined thinking and the proliferation of information parading under the pseudonym of science, this self-imposed discipline in the creation and discovery of knowledge doesn't lead to a "weltfremd" mentality but implies a responsible approach to the solving of practical problems as perceived by individuals and communities.
The INU develops its own research program having its own priorities, disseminating the results for a broader audience, but it also serves as a clearing house for the communication of knowledge coming from others.
In general terms, INU considers it imperative for the development of the human sciences today that assumptions inherent in the concepts used be revisited and made explicit before generating new data.

Your fences must be secure; indeed, if the Shiba Inu is ever outdoors when unsupervised, he should have a covered run, for his ingenuity and jumping and climbing anddigging skills may send him over or under an ordinary fence.
Shiba Inus are active go-getters who MUST have regular opportunities to vent their energy and to use their busy minds to do interesting things.
I strongly recommend that you get your Shiba Inu involved in obedience classes at the intermediate or advanced level, or in agility (an obstacle course for dogs), as outlets for his high energy.
