The short version is that Inuyasha is the story of the characters Inuyasha-a half demon, and Kagome-a school girl, and their quest to fill 150+ episodes with entertaining stuff to watch through a variety of plot devices.
Okay, okay It's the story of Inuyasha, Kagome, and a gigantic cast of supporting characters and their quest to retrieve the pieces of the shattered Shikon Jewel and ultimately defeat the series' ubervillian Naraku.
Compassionate and intelligent, she keeps Inuyasha in line when he acts up by using a spell that was put on him that puts Inuyasha on the ground whenever she tells him to "sit".

After InuYasha defeats Sesshomaru, Kagome explains that InuYasha can wield it because he wanted to protect a human with it, and the reason Sesshomaru couldn't was because he had no place for humans in his heart.
Inuyasha is the main character along with Kagome, and is the namesake of the series.
And then in the third movie it apparently states that InuYasha's dad, InuTaisho, died 200 years ago on the day InuYasha was born (which includes the time he was pinned to the tree), which would make him about 200 years old, or 150 years old plus 50 years pinned to the tree.

When she crawls out again it is fifty years after the confrontation of Inuyasha and Kikyo, and the land is being rampaged by demons intent on one thing: coming into possession of the Shikong Jewel so that they can further their own powers.
Kagome stumbles across Inuyasha, frees him to assist in a battle, and later fires an arrow that shatters the Shikong Jewel as a bird-demon attempts to fly off with it.
Inuyasha is irascible, immature, impulsive, and stubborn, the kind that would rather act than think and talks big; trash-talking in a fight is not beneath him.

Inuyasha is named after its hero, a half-demon-dog, half-human boy (?) who looks a lot like any other manga-style half-demon-dog, half-human boy: he has slitted pupils, long fingernails, long (white) hair, and sharp pointy doggy ears; and aside from this, is young and handsome (of course).
Inuyasha finds himself helping Kagome against greedy monsters, almost unwillingly; and in one terrible conflict, the two wind up shattering the Shikon No Tama into shards that fly across the land.
Inuyasha's gradual and continuing growth into a caring young man has been well-done and convincing (though of course he is nowhere near being polite yet).

Before becoming a fan of "Inuyasha," I still loved Hiyou Miyazaki's work, enjoyed some of the classic films like Akira and Ghost in the Shell, and could tolerate most of the other anime shows on Adult Swim that I'd watched (in fact, I've always loved "Cowboy Bebop"), but that was about it.
But after seeing only about half a dozen episodes, I knew that "Inuyasha" was my new favorite show and that I had to have all the episodes on tape.

Inuyasha Grudgingly at first, saves Kagome (the modern Schoolgirl who falls in the well) from a monster after the Jewel of the four souls.
I bought this calendar for my 11 year old daughter who is enthralled in anime in general and has a particular fascination of the InuYasha series that she shares with the friends.
But I think that they should have just put inuyasha in human form by him self and not the words new moon because if you watch the series you know what it means...
