  Nanisivik
Nanisivik, Nunavut, is located on the south shore of Strathcona Sound on the Borden Peninsula of BAFFIN ISLAND, 280 km northwest of IQALUIT.
The name in Inuktituk means "place where people find things" in reference to the lead-zinc ore that was discovered there in 1910-11.
The area has historically never been inhabited by Inuit and is devoid of wildlife for vegetation is scarce.

Some ethnomusicologists have been suggesting that by being able to maintain their language, the inuktituk, this has also helped the Inuit maintaining that particular tradition; although in many regions, throat-singing was forbidden by Christian priests for many decades.
We don't have a word in Inuktituk for art, but it is an art in a sense because that it is a way of socializing, a way of getting together.

The term qallunaat, Anglicized to kabloona, is also from Inuktituk and refers to all those who are not Inuit.
It is a useful term for describing most Inuit collectors: "western" is the wrong direction, and "southern" seems to put Winnipeg into Dixie and excludes the Europeans who first made contact with the Inuit in the 16th century.

He must somehow be able to use the bearings and landmarks.
Even if I spoke Inuktituk, I am not sure he would be able to explain it to me. If I were his son, and we did things like that day after day, I would start to see some of the things that he sees.
