Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a 1956 science fiction film.
Body Snatchers—now available on DVD and digitally remastered—brought respectability to the science fiction genre that emerged in the post-war era, a genre that was exploding on screens around the country, partly due to the numerous post-Roswell UFO sightings.
In defense of Body Snatchers, he stated, "I think the world is populated by pods and I wanted to show them." He also believed that humans had lost much of their sensitivity because of the advance in military weaponry and the atrocities of recent wars.

Sutherland delivers a performance that conveys beautifully the terrifying realisation that he is one of a diminishing group yet to be overwhelmed by an alien force that bears the faces of the loved and trusted.

Whit Bissell functioned as a generic marker: if you saw his unforgettable face in the background of some film, you immediately knew that it was trash.
And, with the gradual collapse of the conventional B-movie in the 1950s, and the corresponding rise of the science fiction B-movie, the trash that you saw him in was increasingly science-fictional.

 Village of the Damned (1960)
The fear of takeover in American films like It Came from Outer Space (1953), Invaders from Mars (1953) and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) is adapted in uniquely English ways - the film makes considerable play between the sedate normality of the English countryside and the creepy arrival of the unexplained.
The film was disappointingly remade by John Carpenter as Village of the Damned (1995).
Children of the Damned (1963) was billed as a sequel but is really a reworking of the same theme and a lesser film.

As with many classic films (i.e., Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)), the original story was altered (due to its insinuation that "authority" was questionable and insane), and a flashback framing device (composed of an epilogue and prologue) was added to soften its message.
The fantasy and supernatural film genres are not synonymous with the horror genre, although thriller films may have some relation when they focus on the revolting and horrible acts of the killer/madman.
This made the film appear to be a delusional nightmare in a psychotic mental patient's (Francis) dream, thereby diluting the subversive nature of the original.

 THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE
Invasion of the Body Snatchers in the way that 1956 film and The Manchurian Candidate "united deceit with bodily invasion" through the kisses of female figures – Angela Lansbury& Mom and Invasion’s brainwashed girlfriend, Dana Wynter.
Even without its parallels, the film version of The Manchurian Candidate is historically important for being the first explicitly anti-McCarthyist movie (Invasion of the Body Snatchers and even High Noon are often considered anti-McCarthyist, but if so, they’re far from explicit).
The paranoia extends to the film& existence post-Nov.22, 1963, where it became notorious by its ‘disappearance’, amid rumours of suppression and cover-up analogous to those swirling around The Warren Commission and its conspiracy-theory aftermath.

However, I will argue that the film's paranoia and anxiety is over a rather a more home-grown concern, that of the ongoing invasion of American culture in the 1950s by television and the media.

Prototypic Horror: The Genre of the Book of Job
Jackson is, in part, right: the real is emptied, and modern illustrations, which also strip assumed meanings from what is perceived as "real," are such films as Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956; novel by Jack Finney as The Body Snatchers) and The Stepford Wives (1975 from Ira Levin's novel).
Often, in the modern horror film, audiences view this punishment through the monster's eyes (Ebert passim) and see the victim begging them for the mercy that is never given.
Horror's and the Book of Job's distortions of their normal worlds are based on violation of all expectations, such as Yahweh's of his covenant with Job (Mitchell, Book 6, 8, 73).
