  Outpost Gallifrey: Reviews
The adventure could have been called 'Invasion of the Mongol Horsemen' or 'Invasion of the Hairy Vikings' as the story is really about idealistic people endangering the rest of the population by scaring the bejesus out of them so they can formulate their plans.
Fortunately, although the Dinosaurs are mentioned in the story title, they are peripheral to the main plot and Malcolm Hulke wisely keeps their involvement to a minimum, and in most other aspects, 'Invasion of the Dinosaurs' succeeds admirably.
In summary, 'Invasion of the Dinosaurs' is a well-crafted, interesting story, which is thoroughly underrated and worthy or reappraisal.

Invasion of the Dinosaurs is a rare example of using the monsters as a vehicle for the plot, rather than the other way around.
Invasion of the Dinosaurs is incredibly well constructed with some very strong ideas, ranging from the evacuation of London to the plans of Whitaker and Grover to recreate a supposed Golden Age.
Invasion of the Dinosaurs is a story that's very repetitive: from the recycling of the Doctor in danger from a rampaging T. Rex for three cliffhangers to the fact that Sarah wanders on and off the alleged spacecraft for what seems like forever in the final two episodes.

Invasion of the Dinosaurs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Invasion of the Dinosaurs is a serial in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who, which was first broadcast in six weekly parts from January 12 to February 16, 1974.
Dinosaurs have started appearing all over the city – but that is not all, as the Doctor comes across a mediaeval peasant too from the days of King John, who disappears in a time eddy.
The dinosaur appearances are various – pterodactyl, stegosaurus, tyrannosaurus rex – but the creatures seem to vanish as mysteriously as they appear.

A Brief History Of Time (Travel): Invasion Of The Dinosaurs
Script editor Terrance Dicks suggested that the dinosaurs could instead be unleashed in modern times, and it was decided that Hulke's storyline would be amended to have London terrorised by dinosaurs instead of aliens.
Despite being planned as the second story of Season Eleven, Invasion Of The Dinosaurs was the first to be made as part of Doctor Who's eleventh recording block (The Time Warrior having been taped at the end of the tenth block).
Because the dinosaurs were such an important element of the story, however, these flaws could not be minimised onscreen, leaving Russell and her team to make do with what they had.

I believe Invasion of the Dinosaurs was his last contribution to the show before his untimely death.
However, there is always the possibility that the Doctor Who restoration team will tinker with 'Invasion of the Dinosaurs' and replace the laughable dinosaurs with some computer wizadry for the DVD release in 20 (well, who knows...) years time.

It is perhaps fortunate that Malcolm Hulke's scripts use the dinosaurs really only as window dressing to what is, in essence, another moralistic tale about the problems of pollution and the lengths to which mankind might go to try to solve them.
Unfortunately, Invasion of the Dinosaurs is destined to be remembered as 'the one with the awful dinosaurs'.
