		Inverurie was not involved in mainstream Scottish affairs in the middle ages, though the Garioch as a doorway to Moray had an importance to the Crown and Inverurie was the chief Burgh of Regality.

		In 1887 the Aberdeen Cricket Association was enlarged to admit clubs from the county, and Inverurie, as one of the clubs to be admitted as a Senior club, took part in the Challenge Trophy, reaching the semi-final where they were beaten by Caledonian.
		A fair bit of success came to the burgh, 2nd Inverurie won Grade 3 in 1920, and the cup in 1923, while 2nd Locos won Grade 3 in 1921, and the cup in 1924.
		N McIntosh won Grade 3 batting in 1925 with an average of 26, N F Donald won Grade 2 batting in 1926 with an average of 18.6, and Joe Smith won the corresponding bowling award in 1926 with an average of 3.2.
