Also in 1976, the Iowa General Assembly added to Chapter 601J of the Iowa Code, provisions requiring all public funds spent on transit to be expended in conformance with the state transit plan.
The Iowa General Assembly also appropriated $2 million for support of public transit in Iowa for the 1977 fiscal year (beginning July 1, 1976.) Annual appropriations continued in subsequent years, though the amount of funding gradually declined as a result of a series of "across-the-board" budget cuts.
In 1986 the Iowa General Assembly discontinued the annual General Fund appropriations to public transit, and instead appropriated funds from the petroleum overcharge court settlements from Exxon to supplement the use tax funding for transit in FY1987.

Eligible students attending Iowa's accredited private schools may enroll in postsecondary institutions for courses not offered at the private school or at the public school district in which the private school is located and receive credit towards their high school diploma.
Iowa Code § 281.31.7 Evaluations must be reported to the school district of residence and the department of education on later than June 30.
As part of Iowa's uniform school requirements, nonpublic schools must appoint an advisory committee to develop goals and plans to meet the major educational needs of their students and to evaluate and report on the school's progress annually.

The Iowa Bureau of Labor Statistics was created by the 20th Iowa General Assembly under the control of the Commissioner of Labor Statistics.
Iowa had three employment offices: one in the Polk County Courthouse; one in the Sioux City City Hall; and one in the Farm Bureau office in Creston.
The first Iowa Unemployment Compensation law was passed by a special session of the Iowa Legislature during the Christmas week of 1936 to enable Iowa employers to receive credit against a 2.7 percent federal tax on the first $3,000 of wages for contributions paid under Iowa law.
