This magnificent three-story limestone barn, one of the oldest (arguably built in 1839) in Iowa, sits in the middle of this historic Luxembourgish village.
This barn was featured in the Iowa Public Television “Living in Iowa” special, Saving Iowa’s Barns and was also featured in the article “Restored barn steals spotlight” in Iowa Farmer Today.
The Handsaker barn, featured on the cover of the Spring 2003 edition of the Iowa Barn Foundation Magazine, is a spartan, unique square barn known widely as the "Fernald barn." William Handsaker bought the rich land, on which the barn stands, from the government in 1853 for $4 per acre.

AMES, Iowa - Dylan Long, a Creston native who was the 2003 NCAA 141-pound runner-up for Northern Iowa, has joined the Iowa State coaching staff, ISU head coach Cael Sanderson announced Tuesday.
