On Sunday children who thronged the parks complained that parks were not being taken care of appropriately.
The Children Park in Bagh-e-Jinnah, which is being managed by Agriculture Department, has all amusement items but it is fast losing its greenery due to the mismanagement by the authorities.

Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, council chairman Sheikh Pervaiz Iqbal Soni said several years ago, the then Sialkot municipal corporation had got a piece of land on the Kutchery Road from the rehabilitation department for the construction of a public park.
Mr Iqbal Soni said the corporation authorities had also constructed a big official residence in the Gulistan-i-Fatima Park around the Sialkot Jinnah Stadium by spending millions of rupees.
He said the district government had allocated a grant of Rs12.7 million for the renovation of the neglected Khayaban-e-Iqbal Park besides providing advanced recreational facilities under a comprehensive plan, but the pace of the construction work was very slow.

While travelling towards Srinagar airport, we see to our left written on a sign board ''Iqbal Park'' and on seeing its condition, one is compelled to think of the past history of Iqbal Park, when large public meetings/gatherings used to be held there.
But today, we are stunned and hurt to see the condition of this park.
I think it my social responsibility to bring it to the notice of the authorities and I am sure that earnest steps will be taken by the Government to restore the Iqbal Park to its pristine past glory.

Srinagar, Aug 16.(PTI): Militants made an abortive bid to disrupt Jammu and Kashmir's main Independence Day function at Bakshi stadium on Monday by exploding an IED hours before Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was scheduled to unfurl the tricolour even as two persons were injured in a grenade attack in Doda district.
An explosion took place in Iqbal Park, adjacent to Bakshi stadium, at around 8:40 am, one hour and 20 minutes before the function was scheduled to begin, a police spokesman said here.
No one was injured in the explosion and police was investigating into the case, he said.
