		Iquique has the largest commercial port center (or Zona Franca) of (A continent in the western hemisphere connected to North America by the Isthmus of Panama) South America and has been traditionally called Zofri.
		The city was founded in the (Click link for more info and facts about sixteenth century) sixteenth century, although there is evidence of habitation in the area by the Chango people as early as 7000 BC.
		In 1835, (English natural scientist who formulated a theory of evolution by natural selection (1809-1882)) Charles Darwin, during his voyage on the Beagle, travelled to Iquique and described a town very much in want of everyday necessities, such as water and firewood.

		Lagos arrived in Iquique early Wednesday after cutting short a European tour in the wake of the magnitude 7.9 quake.
		He said that in addition to the damage of thousands of homes, the other main problem in the area, 1,200 miles north of Santiago, is the lack of water due to broken pipes.
