Ireland is already the most expensive country in Europe in which to send an e-mail, according to Ireland Offline and keeping prices high could have massive implications for Ireland's future as a tech nation.
Ireland Offline is calling on the government to ensure that such services are capped at a maximum of 30 euros (£20) per month.

Ireland has 1,100 telephone exchanges but only 95 of these are equipped to supply fast net services.
Ireland also lags behind when it comes to dial-up access with 30% of homes net-enabled compared to an average of 37% in the rest of Europe.

Very pretty part of Ireland, and you will hear Gaelic spoken alot more in Gallway than you ever do in Dublin.
My advice is to stay away from northern Ireland and enjoy the west.

There's nothing like that in Ireland, where the Irish Information Society Commission (ISC) labels the land as an example of "market failure in broadband." The conclusion follows from a report commissioned by the ISC from Sonas Innovation and Peter Bacon and Associates.
I don't think the government programme will put broadband into many parts of rural Ireland, even though the Ireland Offline concept of "group water schemes" is an interesting proposition.
Quite simply, some parts of Ireland couldn't be bothered with either broadband satellite dishes or mobile phone masts.
