Knock is a small village in East Mayo mid-way between Galway and Sligo, and almost equi-distance from Kiltimagh, Ballyhaunis and Claremorris.
The story of the airport and its charismatic founder, Monsigneur James Horan, are close to the heart of the community.
Knock is a well-appointed and tidy town, able to cope with the regular influxes of huge crowds of pilgrims and visitors.

Knock International Airport (IATA: NOC, ICAO: EIKN), now called Ireland West Airport Knock (from October 2005) and formerly called Connaught Airport, and previously to that Horan International Airport, is located at Knock near Charlestown, County Mayo, Ireland.
The airport was intended to bring employment to an impoverished corner of Ireland, as well as allow pilgrims to visit the nearby Roman Catholic Knock Shrine which commemorates an event of 1879.

Ireland West Airport Knock says its passenger numbers reached over 530,000 last year - an increase of 42% on the previous year's figures.
