The first Yearly Meeting to be organized was New England in 1661; Baltimore Yearly Meeting was established in 1672 and Virginia Yearly Meeting was established in 1673 "by the motion and order of George Fox", who had also attended the first and second sessions of Baltimore Yearly Meeting.
Philadelphia Yearly Meeting was organized in 1681; New York in 1695, by New England; North Carolina in 1698; Ohio, the first beyond the Alleghenies, in 1813 by Baltimore.
Oregon Yearly Meeting withdrew in 1926 and Kansas in 1937.

Most of the matters from Yearly Meeting 2001 that required follow-up action are referred to in section 5 of the Report of Meeting for Sufferings for 2001.  Further to minute 23, consideration of charitable status is included in the agenda of this Yearly Meeting.
Since we last met as a Yearly Meeting we have made the decision to dispose of the Bloomfield Hospital complex and Swanbrook House and plans for moving to our new home at Stocking Lane, Dublin are progressing.
This is the year in which monthly meetings are asked to begin the nomination process for representatives on Meeting for Sufferings to serve from Yearly Meeting 2003 until Yearly Meeting 2006.

Illinois Yearly Meeting's representatives are Liz Oldham and Nancy Wallace.
Illinois Yearly Meeting has not felt clear about setting any particular age at which associate membership is dropped, and leaves this difficult matter to the discretion of monthly meetings.
Meetings are responsible for continuing a caring relationship with associate members as they mature, and for encouraging them to apply for membership when they are ready, whether before or after the end of associate membership.

Ireland Junior Yearly Meeting, 19th - 23rd April 2003
Having arrived in Dublin early Saturday morning (which meant getting up at 6am for the two of us) only to discover we didn't have to leave for JYM until 5:30pm, it was nice to be met by a couple of the friendly and somewhat hyperactive committee members from Irish JYM.
There are a fair few differences between British and Irish JYM's; Ireland's is smaller, only 33 young people attending this year, and has a greater age range involved with the same people attending every year from their first aged 14(as Sprogs) to their last aged 18.

The Meeting was at first unable to agree with the school's request to acquire a neighboring property.
The revisions were now presented to Yearly Meeting for first reading - that is, not for approval, but to assure that they are clear and accurate.
The Clerk clarified that this round of revision is narrowly focussed on passages about the structure and financing of Yearly Meeting, not a general revision of the whole text.

Perhaps one of the highlights of his life occurred in 1952 when he represented Irish Friends in a party of Friends from London Yearly Meeting, who presented a Loyal Address to Queen Elizabeth 11 at Buckingham Palace on her accession to the Throne.

At a civic ceremony in Waterford City Hall the mayor presented an illuminated scroll to the Yearly Meeting in recognition of Quakers' contribution to life in Ireland and especially in Waterford.
Miriam Logan, of Cork Meeting, spoke on the subject "Fear of Difference is at the Core of Conflict".
We have not yet discerned whether the Yearly Meeting wishes these different experiences and perspectives to be reflected within a book of Christian Experience.

On 9 February 1830 a draft of a petition to the house of commons was brought before a public meeting.
In June 1917 he attempted to form a national ministry, but disagreeing as to methods withdrew from the meetings, and when the Lefroy ministry was formed sat as a private member until the general election in October 1917, when he lost his seat by four votes.
He was made manager of one of their holdings, and selling a small property he had in Ireland, with his brothers bought Longerenong station for £40,000.

When the Dancers first suggested visiting Ireland -- in early 2003 -- the initial reaction was sceptical.
But one or two friends had knowledge of them, sufficient to encourage us to think of a visit in 2004 to coincide with our 350th celebrations, and focusing on our (residential) Yearly Meeting where evening ‘entertainment’ would have space to flourish.
Taken as a whole, the evening at Yearly Meeting was a great success!

Most of the centers are in Europe where the years between the two world wars saw a new growth of Quaker groups, resulting in new, if small, yearly meetings for Germany (1925), The Netherlands (1931), France (1933), Sweden (1935), and Switzerland (1944); those in Norway (1846) and Denmark (1875) had already been instituted.
At the present time FSC cooperates with AFSC and other Quaker bodies in running conferences for diplomats and others, in holding seminars for young leaders, and in maintaining international affairs representatives in key cities in various parts of the world and at the United Nations.
