In addition a Dublin Universities Champion college will be crowned, although UCDAC indicate that no trophy has yet been sourced for this competition.
The variety of distances (600m insted of 800m) for example) is also an attempt to attract those who are homing their race skills but who don't necessarily want a race at full distance.

At Mount Merrion the fifth Viscount Fitzwilliam's children, who were baptized in St. Andrew's Church, Dublin, passed their early life, and in a large picture preserved there his three sons are depicted as boys playing in the grounds.
