In the county the population is spread out with 25.40% under the age of 18, 7.10% from 18 to 24, 25.70% from 25 to 44, 23.60% from 45 to 64, and 18.10% who are 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the county is $38,071, and the median income for a family is $45,417.

Iroquois County is bounded on the north by the county of Kankakee, on the east by the State of Indiana, on the south by Vermilion and Ford Counties, and on the west by Ford County.
In 1833 Iroquois County had a population of 350, in 1860 a population of 16,000, and in 1950 a population of 32,348.
The 2000 population of Iroquois County was 31,334.

The Fall, 2002 edition of the Iroquois County Historical Society Newsletter contained Dorrance Albright's fine retelling of the story of the lynching of Martin Meara, an Onarga Township resident who brutally murdered his son by beating him and then placing him on a hot stove to burn.
Born in Iroquois County, Illinois (April 20, 1869), Mary Meara grew up in Chicago, where her family moved after her father's death in 1871.
It is hoped that her native Iroquois County will remember her for achievements in science, and the honor she brought to her birthplace.
