I do think Irrlicht was "the" album that started the journey into cosmic synth music (even though it was done mostly on organ).
However, Pink Floyd's title track to Saucerful of Secrets is generally acknowledged as one of the original inspirations for all this music (along with Interstellar Overdrive from their first album).
And thus Schulze beats TD with Irrlicht, being the first real comic (ie not rock-based at all) album, shortly after followed by TD's Zeit.

Irrlicht seems to be more a game engine.
IrrLicht is a great engine - but it is limited in what it can do.
I personally think it's gone a too far on the side of simplicity, to the extent of limiting its flexibility, but then I get the impression that the kind of people using it are generally quite inexperienced so I'm sure it's a good fit for them.

I was playing with the TGE demo but it appears to be dark and I do not know how it increase the world light brightness as well.
Do a search on this forum about Irrlicht - I posted some thoughts then that may no longer be applicable (the last time I mucked around with it was like version 0.6 or 0.7), but could still be interesting.
Anyway - last time I worked with Irrlicht, it was a pretty cool tool for doing an FPS game - but it was still mainly just a 3D engine - you don't get the robust "game engine" that you have with Torque.

This tutorial will assume a working knowledge of Irrlicht, as this is intended as a primer for RakNet, and not Irrlicht.
I will also assume that you have configured your compiler to link with Irrlicht and RakNet, and also that it knows where to find the include files.
My purpose of dividing the steps like this is to get all of the Irrlicht portion of the client done and out of the way with the first step, and then steps 2 and 3 will focus entirely on networking and RakNet.

This case study walks through setting up irrlicht version 0.6 with the mingw toolchain in a Standard Make project and then build and debug the HelloWorld tutorial as a Managed Make project.
The source code for the Irrlicht Engine is contained in a zip file include with the distribution in the 'source' folder in 'source.zip'.
Once created, we go to the properties on our new project and change the include directories to point to the irrlicht/include directory (right now this has to be done using an absolute path) (if you forget to put the "include" in the path, and try to edit the entry later, there is now Browse button).

I really need a package that has a c++ type of scripting system that is much more part of the engine.
I tried Nebula2, irrlicht, and panda32 but they seem to need a programming language installed to use them.
Irrlicht is a bit more flexible, while it will work with most Visual Studio languages there are also "wrappers" that make it useable with other languages like Lua and Java (how functional these are I do not know).

In fact Irrlicht has features that Ogre doesn't and vice versa, and the comment about the community is also a little strange.
Its a far more feature rich engine than Irrlicht and more community support for it, otherwise 10 outta 10.

You'll require the Irrlicht source for the additional libraries plus include them in your project and you'll also require the additional files!!!
Using the powerful Irrlicht 3d engine I'm loading a bsp level and displaying several effects that are easily achieved using this API.
For the other stuff you must download the Irrlicht engine in order to use its libraries as well.

EM is not really very much electronic, just kraut (and definitively not my cup up tea).

it is current with the latest version of Irrlicht which is v0.12.

I have to point out that Irrlicht is solely a 3d engine, and that's all.
Anyone who is and has been using an engine for any amounts of time will say that their engine is better then said engine for such a reason.
As for all of Irrlicht's tech-demos, they are showing off meshes that are freely provided and not some models developed primarly for the demo.
