		If anything, props have to be given for the good people that try to adapt Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah and Children Of Dune, books two and three respectively in the author's Dune series, for the Sci-fi Channel.
		She performed an important deed in Dune, but Frank Herbert believes that women that act outside the guidance of their men are evil and should be punished (see also the villainess Wensicia Corrino - and don't get me started on Susan Sarandon's overly campy "acting"), so Alia is humiliated to shreds in Children Of Dune.
		While obedient and subservient women like Irulan and Chani are applauded, and even Ghanima acts only because she feels the need to avenge the good old holy patriarchy of the system.

		When Irulan is visiting Giedi Prime during Feyd's birthday celebrations, Fenring and the Baron leave her at the Gladiatorial ring to discuss issues (in the book Fenring and the Baron do discuss issues during Fenring's visit on Feyd's birthday, but Irulan was not there it was Lady Margot Fenring instead.
		Another addition the the role of Irulan was her visit to Giedi Prime to fraternise with Feyd whilst gathering information (in the book it was Count Fenring and Lady Margot Fenring who went to observe Feyd).

		Also absent from Sci Fi’s Dune is the Fremen superstitions surrounding Paul and his Bene Gesserit mother Lady Jessica (Saskia Reeves), even though this later becomes the central focus of the story of Dune.
		Along the way there are numerous plot deviations that include a much-expanded role for the Princess Irulan Corrino, and the removal of many key scenes that build the story of the Fremen.
		Both John Hurt (Duke Leto Atreides) and Giancarlo Giannini (Emperor Shaddam Corrino) are fine actors who fail to shine in Dune.

		To his horror, Maud'Dib--Arrakis emperor Paul Atreides (Alec Newman, reprising his Dune role)--has become the unintended figurehead of a violent dictatorship, and his enemies are multiplying.
		Uncharacteristically (and thankfully) Alec Newman reprises his role as Paul (and the new Preacher) and does so with powerfully strong acting (the exact opposite of what I saw from him in the original miniseries).
		Julie Cox was wonderful as Irulan, Jessica Krige excellently portrayed an aging Lady Jessica, and James McAvoy WAS Leto II.
