Jennifer Smith, an Irvine Company Spokesperson, said the Irvine Company doesn't intend to renew the cafe's lease because the cafe may not be able to survive in the University Center as a result of competition from incoming businesses.
The Irvine Company could not be reached for comment on the various student and community efforts to keep the cafe in business.
