The English inventor and manufacturer, Sir Isaac Holden was the son of Isaac Holden, who hailed from Cumberland, and was born at Hurlet, a village between Paisley and Glasgow, on the 7th of May 1807.
Isaac's son, Angus Holden was created a peer in 1908, and held the title of Baron Holden of Aston.
Holden was unaware, when writing the letter, that as a young lad Constantine had been a hand comber at Holden's mill and had lost his job there after the invention of the new machinery.

A themed trail along picturesque river valleys and over high heather moorlands in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The trail is named after Isaac Holden, an itinerant tea seller and philanthropist of the 19th century, and includes places where the legacy of his "works of public usefulness" can still be seen.
The trail was created by the Friends of Ninebanks Youth Hostel, which is on the route, in collaboration with the local authorities, and was opened in 2002.

The people of Oakworth had a granite drinking fountain made and dedicated to Sir Isaac Holden 100 years after his death at the age of 90 in 1897.
The fountain was originally in the middle of the road at the Victoria Road and Station Road junction (Behind the Co-op), and was eventually moved to Holden Park.
The fountain has now been cleaned up (April 2005) by 'Friends of Oakworth (Holden) Park' group members and one of the aims of the group is to have the fountain restored in time for a festival to honour the 200th anniversary of Sir Isaac Holden's birth on 7th May 1807.

My grandfather is Herman Franklin Holden, he was born to Isaac and Valley (who was his second wife).
I live in Dallas GA, where Isaac passed away and is burried.
For some strange reason my GF does not like to talk too much about his family but mabie I can pull some out of him or mabie some of my uncles and aunts and my father.
