Reed was married, December 22, 1884, at Hummelstown, to Mary Kelchner, born in Palmyra, Lebanon county, Pa., in 1863.

Finally in 1922, Chapman Reed's son Melville deeded the house to the town in preparation for its use as a library.

Isaac and Mary Read are buried in Carverton United Methodist Church Yard, Kingston Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania (Carverton Methodist Church Yard; Kern 1938; Warren County Marriages).
The 1830 United States Federal Census indicates that there were three individuals living in Isaac Read's household: a male between 20 and 30 years of age (Isaac), a female between 15 and 20 years of age (Mary, who was actually 22) and a male between 10 and 15 years of age.
Isaac and Mary were buried in the Carverton Methodist church yard.

This collection is divided into two series:  The papers of Reverend Isaac Reed and his son, George, 1812–62, and the papers of Worthington and Josiah C. Williams and their family, 1835–1926.

He, his wife Elizabeth, their 8 children, including his son Isaac Reed Jr., and two sons-in-law, John Morris and Hough Shepherd, all settled with their families near where the Bethel Church now stands.
In September, 1843, Rev. Isaac Reed and Rev. Lemuel Herrin organized the Old Bethel Baptist Church, and the original minutes of that meeting are still in possession of the Bethel Church at Clayton.

Isaac Ruchman, a retired virologist who worked on the polio vaccine with Albert Sabin, died yesterday at Mayfair Manor.
Ruchman, who taught at the University of Kentucky from 1963 to 1974, also was one of the first people to demonstrate serological cross reactivity between the West Nile, Japanese Encephalitis and St. Louis Encephalitis viruses, said UK biology professor Judith Lesnaw, a longtime friend.
Ruchman, the widower of Marietta Duke Ruchman, is survived by his son, Reed.
