		George C. Wolfe has cited Tuan's "wonderful sense of the outrageous, brilliant craftsmanship of language, and thrilling theatrical imagination," and we are excited to bring her talent to this contemporary reinvention of a forgotten classic.
		"Fifth Exotic" is a satirical music theatre piece created for Ching Valdes and loosely based on the life of Isabel Rosario Cooper, a 16-year old Filipina vaudeville/film star that General McArthur brought back to the States as his mistress.
		As one of this country's most remarkable performers, Ching Valdes brings a twenty-five year career as an actor, singer, and dancer/choreographer to this work, and we are delighted to have commissioned playwright Ralph Pena, Artistic Director of the Obie-winning Ma-Yi Theatre Company, to write it.
