Isabella komt vlak voor de dood van Filips II in het bezit van de Nederlanden, dat als bruidsschat door haar vader wordt gegeven aan Isabelle en haar echtgenoot.
Ook slagen Albrecht en Isabella erin met de Noordelijke opstandelingen een bestand te sluiten, waardoor de vijandigheden 12 jaar gestaakt worden (zie Twaalfjarig Bestand).
