FUKUOKA (Kyodo) The Fukuoka High Court sided with the government Monday and scrapped a lower court injunction that had halted a controversial land reclamation project in Isahaya Bay, Nagasaki Prefecture, because of its damage to the local fishing industry.
Presiding Judge Hiroyuki Nakayama acknowledged a correlation between the project and damage to the fishing industry but said the "precise" cause of the damage cannot be established.
Isahaya Bay is part of the Ariake Sea, a nearly landlocked body of water encircled by Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Saga and Fukuoka prefectures.

Not until recently was the tidelandfs effectiveness to purify seawater became widely known although it is possible that they were aware of the fact but have intentionally ignored it.
Each representative from the local producerfs association, office of reclamation project and Nagasaki agricultural experiment station gave me explanations on the farmland and the reclamation project.
