I was teaching English on the JET program (1996-98) in 4 Junior high Schools in the sleepy little town of Isehara.
Once deep into Kanagawa, we went to check in to our hotel in the growing town of Ebina which in the 2 years since I was last there has received a HUGE new shopping complex bolted onto the still rather quaint station building which looks kind of odd now.
Isehara also stands at the foot of the majestic Oyama, which rises up to meet the sun and guarantees amazing sunsets.

The infected cow was born in December 1995, three to four months earlier than the cows in the first four cases, and is the first one found in Kanagawa, raising concern that the breadth of the infection may be larger than previously thought.
The cow, considered to be of relatively advance age, was one of about 50 owned by the dairy farmer in the eastern Japan city of Isehara.
The farmer brought the cow to a slaughterhouse in the prefecture Wednesday, the day it was scheduled to be shipped as beef cattle, after noticing it could not stand on its feet because its hip was dislocated and legs were inflamed.

Government inspectors are probing the connection between the powder milk and all five cows infected with the disease, officially known as bovine sponjiform encephalopathy (BSE).
After central government inspectors confirmed the fifth cow's BSE infection Thursday, local officials searched a farmhouse in Isehara, Kanagawa Prefecture, where the cow was raised and checked through more than 1,100 receipts for animal food.
Meanwhile, the officials quoted the Isehara farmer as saying that the cow had given birth to four calves and all of them were subsequently sold.

The coast guard went after the ship after a 41-year-old man living in Isehara, Kanagawa Prefecture, called the Yokohama coast guard office at 9:03 p.m.
According to the man, whose name is being withheld, the men were clad in wet suits and emerged from a hatch in a cylindrical object floating on the water that seemed like a small submarine.
But the senior coast guard official indicated that it was highly probable that the Sonamu has nothing to do with this information, and Kanagawa Prefectural Police said later Monday that they have determined that the "witness" gave a false report.
