The Mainichi Daily News said Saturday that 56-year-old Hiroki Kato of Isesaki, who is accused of robbing several local convenience stores, has been charged with creating a.38-caliber pistol at his area steelworks.
Kato confessed to Gunma Prefectural Police officials that he had created the unique gun in June 2005, but never received official permission from the government to do so.

There are plenty of mountains close enough to easily reach and enjoy on a day trip from Isesaki, though.
I would say those mountains you can see are 1 or 2 hours drive from Isesaki at most.
