IsiZulu is a South African Language that is spoken in KwaZulu and in almost all Black townships (Ghettos), especially around Johannesburg.
IsiZulu is a relatively "phonetic" language, you can almost always tell how a word is pronounced by the way it's spelt.
Unlike English or French, IsiZulu does not have silent letters, and its spelling is not as weird as English.

While the teaching of isiZulu in KwaZulu-Natal schools is fast losing ground among locals as Afrikaans is preferred as a second language, the indigenous language is attracting scores of foreign students from America and Europe.
IsiZulu, which incorporates values of respect, humanity and appreciation of one's culture, is proving to be very popular with international students studying at the University of Natal.
Professor Sihawu Ngubane, head of the isiZulu department at the university, said the language was now fully "established" at some universities in America, giving foreign students an opportunity to experience different cultures.

The IsiZulu 101 course is a practical course which seeks to enable those with no prior IsiZulu knowledge to acquire a basic communicative and reading ability in IsiZulu.
This is a first year first language course, and only those students who passed either IsiZulu or one of the other Nguni languages, (with the exclusion of IsiNdebele), as a first language in matric / grade 12, may register for this course.
IsiZulu is used as the language of instruction in this course.

It was decided to use isiZulu as first choice for a pilot project for the reason that Zulu, for one, is the language spoken by the most people in South Africa.
In his speech, Prof Kriek quoted statistics indicating that isiZulu is the language spoken by the majority of South Africans (23,8%), followed by Xhosa (17,6%) and Afrikaans (13,3%).

isiZulu will soon be a compulsory subject in schools where a high percentage of pupils are isiZulu speakers.
The forum was hosted by the department and invited pupils, parents, school governing bodies, business, education officials and unions to give their views on education matters.

Starting in Fall 2003, the course will be offered from Yale as a distance learning course to students at institutions that make up the Connecticut Consortium for African Languages Online.
IsiZulu Sanamuhla is an interactive program based on multimedia materials such as online video of everyday conversations and situations with Zulu people filmed in and around Durban.

 Business Report - Black equity newcomer Isizulu gets historic edge
Durban - In a first for South Africa, newly formed empowerment company Isizulu Timbers has been awarded a licence for the harvesting of indigenous trees, facilitated by Richards Bay Minerals (RBM).
Previous mining operations have led to indigenous trees being burnt, wasting timber and releasing carbon dioxide.
Buse Mthiyane, the owner of Isizulu Timber, said the project had created 15 jobs.
