ISIS UNVEILED, H. Blavatsky's first book, is vast both in content and power, and the end to which a complete, profound study of it must lead cannot, perhaps, be readily perceived.
Isis Unveiled is an introduction to and a necessary groundwork for what followed in the years succeeding its publication in 1877.
Isis unveiled is that creative essence that resides unseen within form, known to the Hindus as "prakriti," and to the alchemists as "prima materia."

 ISIS UNVEILED
ISIS UNVEILED was begun by her in 1874, a bare year after landing in New York City.
That ISIS UNVEILED in its original publication embodies typographical and other verbal errors, and is open to ample criticism on the score of its violation of literary canons, was never denied by its author.
With the publication of the present Centenary Anniversary Edition of ISIS UNVEILED there is completed the task undertaken by the late Robert Crosbie and his associates—to make available to students authentic reproductions of all the Theosophical writings of H. Blavatsky, and of her Colleague, William Q. Judge.

ISIS UNVEILED was H. Blavatsky's first major literary effort, a critical response to the growing materialism in both scientific and religious institutions, and a vindication of the ageless quest.
In the author's words, Isis is the fruit of a somewhat intimate acquaintance with Eastern adepts and study of their science.
Throughout, the author strikes at the root of dogma and affirms the paramount importance of re-establishing the Hermetic philosophy in a world which blindly believes it has outgrown it.

 Thoughts on "Isis Unveiled"
"Isis Unveiled" was H.P.B.'s first public exposition of Theosophy, yet its two volumes are stupendous in their scope.
It is significant to note at the outset that the work is dedicated by H.P.B. "to the Theosophical Society, which was founded in New York, A.D. 1875, to study the subjects on which they treat" i.e., to all of us present-day students who are carrying on the work for which the original T.S. was founded.
So this first work of H.P.B.'s supplies its readers "rather with hints, sketches and adumbrations of the philosophy to which it relates, than with methodical expositions." These hints, however, were addressed to the intuition of the reader.
