Political sources said Azizul Haq and Fazlul Haq Amini, MP, factions of the Islami Oikya Jote (IOJ) were determined to launch a ‘vigorous agitation’ across Bangladesh to force Khaleda’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-led coalition to bow to the anti-Ahmadiyya demand.
We won’t leave the street until the fulfilment of our demand,” a top IOJ leader said, requesting not to be named.
He said his faction’s links with the government slackened as the government did not include any of its leaders in the cabinet and ignored its voice in decision-making.

Apparently an internal feud in the Mufti Amini faction of the Islami Oikya Jote led to the emergence of yet another faction of the front.
Mufti Izharul Islam Chowdhury was the Secretary General of the Mufti Amini led IOJ but he was dropped from the Jote as differences of opinion with Mufti Amini surfaced a few months ago.
Meanwhile, the newly floated IOJ will hold a press conference at a hotel today to focus their position and next plan of action, says a press release.

Two IOJ factions led by Azizul Haque and Fazlul Haque Amini said they will not sit in any alliance meeting if its two other factions led by Mohammad Ishaq and Izharul Islam Chowdhury are not expelled from the alliance, sources said.
Earlier on Sunday, a meeting of the secretaries general of the alliance parties was postponed as the Azizul and Amini factions of the IOJ refused to sit in the meeting in presence of the leaders of two other factions.
The IOJ split into four factions in May this year following which leaders of the Azizul and Amini factions accused the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, the major alliance partners, of fuelling the conflict in the IOJ by recognising the two other factions as alliance partners.

A faction of Islami Oikya Jote (IOJ) yesterday quit the BNP-led ruling alliance protesting what it said were misrule, corruption and nepotism of the coalition government, and floated a new party named Bangladesh Islami Oikya Jote (BIOJ).
Misbahur Rahman Chowdhury, who led the IOJ faction and is now chairman of the BIOJ, said they have cut off all links with the ruling coalition and formed the new party with a 19-point demand.
The new party comprises Nezame Islam, Jamaatul Ulema Islam and Islami Sangram Parishad which were components of the IOJ, he claimed at a press conference.

"There were some differences of opinion between Islami Oikya Jote and Jamaat, but after the countrywide bomb attacks we are now more closer to each other," said Amini while addressing a rally organised by the IJO at Baitul Mukarram gate in protest against August 17 bomb blasts.

A government press release declared that "The ban was imposed in view of objectionable materials in such (Ahmadiyya) publications which hurt or might hurt the sentiments of the majority Muslim population of Bangladesh."
The anti-Ahmadiyyah campaign was being led by Islami Oikya Jote and members of the party also operated as members of Hifazate Khatme Nabuwat Andolon (HKNA), an organisation which spearheads the political campaign against the Ahmadiyyah.
