DAVAO CITY-- Tribesfolk in the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) will showcase what they say is the authentic arts and music of the Sama tribe in the three-day Pangapog Festival that will open Aug. 1 at Samal’s freedom park near the wharf.
Anthropologists and cultural researchers have found unpublished dances and musical instruments that are still being kept by the Sama tribe, who call Samal Island as their ancestral home.
The local government in Samal has tried to revive the festival in the last five years through three days of merry-making, dancing and banquet, Antalan said.
