This past July 2-6, I hosted a trip to visit Cumberland Island and other points of interest for the Positive Christian Singles, which is sponsored by the First Centenary Methodist Church.
At Amelia Island we rode horses on the beach and at Fernandina Beach we visited Fort Clinch State Park.
The rest of the group went on tour and came back to the beach for a picnic.

 World Heritage: Lord Howe Island Group
The islands support extensive colonies of nesting seabirds and at least 168 bird species have been recorded either living at, or visiting, the islands.
The islands are one of two known breeding areas for the providence petrel, a species that is also found nesting on Phillip Island, near Norfolk Island.
Europeans apparently discovered Lord Howe Island when the island was sighted in 1788 from the British colonial naval vessel HMS Supply, en route from Sydney to the penal colony on Norfolk Island.

The island is an atoll, made up of a low, narrow rim of land surrounding a large shallow lagoon.
Canton Island was discovered independently by several ships, most of them American whalers, for which it was a frequent haven, despite its lack of water and coconut groves, for there was fair anchorage off the southwestern lagoon entrance.
In 1916, it was among the islands leased to Captain Allen of the Samoan Shipping and Trading Company, but aside from planting a few coconut palms, of which ten survived, the Company made no use of the island.
