		La posible causa de la separación de las Islas Chafarinas y el continente es que se produjo un desgaste del mar en las zonas más bajas y estrechas que los unían y el agua del mar empezó a subir 3 milímetros al año, terminado por invadir las capas freáticas y la salinización de los pozos.
