The Isle of Man (Ellan Vannin in Manx) or Mann (Mannin in Manx), is a constitutional monarchy located in the Irish Sea at the geographical centre of the British Isles.
The Isle of Man is famous for its TT Motorbike racing event, which began in 1904 as a motorcar race.
The Norse Kingdom of Mann and the Isles was created by Godred Crovan in 1079.

The Isle of Man National Anthem, known in Manx as Arrane Ashoonagh dy Vannin, was written and composed by William Henry Gill (1839-1923), with the Manx translation by John J. Kneen (1873-1939).
The anthem was given official status by the Isle of Man's Tynwald in 2002, with God Save the Queen, being designated the royal anthem.
The anthem is sung to the traditional Manx melody of Mylecharaine's March and its English title is normally "O Land Of Our Birth".

Since 2000, the week of Tynwald Day has been commemorated as "Manx National Week." Concerts are held in the evening; at the conclusion, the Manx national anthem is played, and a fireworks display is staged.
The Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man, the representative of Lord of Mann (the British Sovereign), presides, except on the rare occasions when the British monarch or a member of the British Royal Family is in attendance.

The Isle of Man is located in the middle of the Irish Sea, 83 miles from Liverpool and 90 miles from Belfast and is approximately 221 miles or 572 kilometres square, being 32.5 miles (50 kilometres) long from north to south and 13.5 miles (20 kilometres) wide from east to west.
When introducing the Isle of Man, it is very tempting to wax lyrical about its many charms and brush over the not-so-attractive bits but to really live here is to experience an often contradictory combination of the very beautiful and the very ordinary, the sophisticated and the old-fashioned, the progressive and the traditional.
The National Anthem was written, in English, to an adapted Manx tune by W.H.Gill and dedicated to the Lieutenant-Governor's wife Lady Raglan in 1907.
