Sheppey won 5-4 with a team average of 19.99 and a total of 45 tons, not one of Sheppey’s best performances but they held their nerve and won, that is what counts.
Sheppey’s third player Charlie Day carried on from last season when he always seemed to get drawn by one of the opposing teams top players, this was no exception when he drew Steve Douglas and lost 0-3 with only one ton and a 18.51 average.

The Isle of Sheppey is a small (94 km²) island off the northern coast of Kent in the Thames Estuary, some 40km to the east of central London.
Sheppey is separated from the mainland by a narrow channel called The Swale.

The Isle of Sheppey race which took place on Saturday 9th September gave me a chance to see how the Blaze performed in these conditions.
Mike Lyons, our national champion and three times winner of the Isle of Sheppey race in a Blaze, was held up along with two other boats for a at least three minutes while the ship crossed the course.

Thousands of people walked across a second bridge linking the Isle of Sheppey to the rest of the county at the weekend.
